Rebecca’s experience in teaching in higher education spans programmes in Sociology and Education, from the undergraduate to PhD levels, in both methodological and theoretical courses. She is currently responsible for Theory of Science, a mandatory course on our international masters programme, that interrogates how we know what we know in the context of international and comparative education. Rebecca also teaches on a PhD course, Researcher in Society, that explores the relationship between societal expectations, educational research, and the discipline of ‘pedagogik’.
In recent years, Rebecca has been involved in teaching in courses that critically examine and reflect on educational planning, methods (both introductory and in-depth), modules on education and development, educational policy, international perspectives on education, specialised literature, and international comparative education. At the Department of Sociology (Stockholm University) previously, Rebecca taught Sociological Theory, on sociological methods and analyses courses, as well as on Sociological Perspectives on Organisations. Rebecca has supervised Masters and undergraduate theses in both fields.
Rebecca is main and co-supervisor for a range of PhD research projects at Stockholm University and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology that cover topics from student movements and collective action (Victor Johansson, defended 2025), the organisation of national scholarship programmes (Kieve Stone Saling, defended 2025), and the internationalisation of higher education (Emma West, 2023 – present). She also actively serves as a reader and examiner on PhD progress seminars and defences.
